Fresh Seafoods at its finest during our Travel Batanes Adventure
Posted on November 23, 2008
A travel Batanes will never be complete without enjoying the province’s pride: its freshest seafoods.
Batanes, being an island province teems with the best and the freshest seafoods. Everything is just readily available and at a price you would probably never believe.
When I first experienced Travel Batanes last February, we were served with flying fish or dibang lobsters and coconut crabs.
That is why when I returned to this breathtaking province two weeks ago, I made sure never to miss Batanes seafoods again like Lobsters, Coconut Crabs or Tatus and a whole array of fish. Many of the fishes, I do not know its name, but still tastes good.
But what really made my Travel Batanes adventure complete was the 3-kilogram fresh lobster served on our dinner table. It was fresh, I can say. Because it was still moving before it was finally boiled and salted to perfection.
Who could have thought that the seven of us, Melo, Nina, Karla, Gail, Marc, Dino and I have actually consumed all the 3 kilogram goodness! And it was just our first night in Batanes.
During our Day2, we went to Sabtang Island, and for PHP250.00 we were served the best Batanes meal ever! Fried fish, steamed veggies, and coconut crabs.
The meal was really worth it. In fact, coconut crabs are far more expensive than lobsters, and tastes good too. The coconut crabs look weird. They resemble like a half crab half lobster on its front part, but its back is similar to the back of a spider. And when you squeeze it, all the aligue or crab fat will just ooze out.
I know it was really deadly with all its cholesterol, but it was just so yummy. Great when mixed on the rice.
I guess I would never find an exotic seafood fare as cheap as the ones in Batanes here in Metro Manila.
Special thanks to SEAIR and Columbia Sportswear for making this trip possible. And for allowing BYAHILO to enjoy the Best Batanes Seafoods again!

Napasuko ako ng lobsters at coconut crabs. Cholesterol galore!
Great Photos! Definitely would include Batanes in our 2009 plans. Could you share some info on costs and ideal length of stay?
