Stepping into the cobblestone streets of Calle Crisologo in Vigan
Posted by on December 31, 2008
When one mentions the name Vigan, Ilocos Sur what instantly comes into my mind are the cobblestone streets and the old houses of Calle Crisologo.
Visiting Vigan will never be complete without stepping into the centuries-old cobblestone street of Calle Crisologo. It?s like visiting New York without paying a visit at the Liberty Tower or going to France without checking out the Eiffel Tower.
Calle Crisologo has probably been the most photographed street in the old town of Vigan. This is where time stood still, and clock stopped ticking at the year 1800?s.
Calle Crisologo in Vigan was able to maintain its original state, just like how it looked like during the Spanish Era. And because of its universal significance, the UNESCO has inscribed the town of Vigan as a World Heritage Site.
Antiques, gift items and some Vigan delicacies are available for sale at the old houses along the street. There are Vigan Longganisa, Bagnet, Basi wine, Abel Iloko cloth, hand carved figurines are easily available during daytime.
