Sinulog Festival was a blast! Though there were lesser contingents this year the level of fun and excitement is still high.

Sinanduloy, Sinulog-Based Winner
Yesterday’s grand parade has attracted a crowd of almost 5 million. There were 44 contingents that participated in the street dancing competiton which started at 9 in the morning was was capped by a grand finale number at 7PM. everyone was tired but still on high spirit.
I walked the entire route of the parade which is 5.+ kilometers to take photos while the sun is still up.

Lumad Basakanon, Free Interpretation 2nd place
All in all the Sinulog Festival was a huge success. Despite all the economic crisis, various contingents were still able to put up a good show even if budgets are limited.
The Sinanduloy Cultural Dance troupe of tangub city were declared the winner in the Sinulog-based Category. It was a grand comeback for the group after they just landed 2nd place in last year’s contest. Sinanduloy was be bet for the SB category. I knew all along that they were going to bring home the bacon.

Osme?a High School, SB 2nd place
Lumad Basakanon, the Free interpretation winner for 2006 to 2008 settled only for the second place. Though the group has a new routine and music, they were still overpowered by the Buyugan festival from Abuyog leyte, which has really captured the attention of the crowd.

Buyugan Festival, FI Category winner
Sergio Osme?a high School was really lovely in their performance. they were so elegant in their Filipiniana costume.
I will upload more photos soon. I just need to take a rest now, as my body still aches from the 10-kilometer walk I did yesterday.

Alcoy Siloy, SB category 4th Placer

Lanao del norte, FI Category 4th Place winner

Pakol Festival, SB 5th Place winner

Karatong Festival of Dulag, Leyte

Awesome pictures again…for a internet travelogue
thanks for sharing! wow! 5million people!
SINULOG 2009 WAS A BLAST!
A BIG THANKS TO SENOR SANTO NINO, FOR GRACING YESTERDAY’S CELEBRATION WITH A FINE WEATHER, THE SUN WAS NOT THAT HIGH, LEAVING A CLOUDLY FEELING THROUGH OUT THE PARADE ROUTE, WHICH HELPS A LOT SO THERE WERE LESSER CASES OF COLLAPSING OF SINULOG DANCER WITHIN THE PARADE ROUTE OF THE SINULOG CAROUSEL MARDIGRAS. THOSE CUTE CHILDREN’S FROM ABUYOG ARE VERY ENERGETIC AND ENTERTAINS THE REVELER’S OF THE OCCASION.
MR. ENRICO I WOULD JUST LIKE TO COMMENT ON UR CAPTION ON THE PIX ABOVE. LUMAD BASAKANON NEVER WON IN SINULOG 2006 EDITION. THEY WERE DISQUALIFIED DUE TO SOME TECHNICALITIES. THE GRAND CHAMPION WAS THE CONTINGENT FROM THE PROVINCE OF CAMIGUIN. “THE ISLAND OF YOUR IMAGINATION”.
THANK YOU MR ENRICO.
AWESOME!!!! I hope to be among the 5 million audience sometime…
hehehe parang may curse sa sinulog yong lumad hindi talaga mag grandslam ahahaha…. pero wala pa ring makakatalo sa precision at style ng lumad…
