Have you tried the Pasig River Ferry Service?

Posted by on May 26, 2009

The Pasig River Ferry Service is not new to me. I have tried it several times but its only today that i have found the opportunity to write about it. Part of the effort to bring back the old glory of the Pasig River, the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) revived the Pasig River Ferry Service (PRFS) to provide an alternative transport route to help decongest the perennial traffic in Metro Manila. This was done in conjunction with the development of the banks of Pasig River into linear parks and walkways following the resettlement of informal settlers in the river.

At present, the PRFS is composed of 10 ferry stations, six (6) satellite stations and a fleet of six (6) ferry vessels. The ferry stations are operated by PRRC while the satellite stations and the boats are owned and operated by a private company – the Nautical Transport Services, Inc.

The ferry stations are air-conditioned with comfortable waiting area and clean restrooms. It is also equipped with handicapped lift, turnstiles, an electronic ticketing system and security cameras.

The ferry boats are catamaran-type vessels that can accommodate 150 passengers. It is air-conditioned, has clean restrooms, life vests and flat-screened television for entertainment.
