Experience don Salvador Benedicto: The summer Capital of Negros Occidental

When I had the chance to cover the DBP Roro Race Recently, i was so excited that we will actually be passing by Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental en route to Bacolod City.

The town of Don Salvador Benedicto has been enjoying a relatively cooler climate somewhat similar to Tagaytay because of its higher altitude. It is only recently when people (locals and tourists alike) started to notice the wealth this place can bring.

Last month, the Sangguniang panlalawigan of negros occidental has officially declared the town of don Salvador Benedicto (DSB) as the Summer Capital of Negros occidental.

What makes this place unique is the numerous conical hills surrounding the area. Something that is very similar to the chocolate hills in bohol, though much smaller in number.

While traversing the highway one would notice the man-made terraces used by the locals in planting rice.

Another must-experience in DSB is the Magnetic Hill, though we haven’t tried it when we went there last time. A lot opf drivers confess that a car on a neutral gear just simply moves uphill even if the accelerator is not stepped on. this is something that I should experience next time.

Probably one of the best sights in the area is the Malatan-og Falls. A view deck has been built for a comfortable stopover.

Travel to don salvador bendicto is a confortable 1 hour 30 minutes ride via priovate car or around 2 hours via ceres liner bus.

The fastest way to DSB is via the Bacolod-murcia-don salvador highway.
