Davao Kadayawan Festival 2009 Schedule

Last night Blogie Robillo of Ang Dabawenyo texted me this year’s Kadayawan sa Davao 2009 Festival dates. The schedule is not yet final subject to the approval of Davao City Mayor.
This year’s proposed Kadayawan sa Davao 2009 Festival will be held on August 17-23.
Check out the Full Schedule below:
* August 1-30 – Agro-Industrial Trade Fair and Floral Exhibit at SM City Davao.
* August 17 to September 17, 2009 – Hulagway sa Kaliwatan at the Museo Dabawenyo.
* August 17 – Duhwow: Dayaw or the Davao River Festival.
* August 17-23 – Hudyakaan or Street Party at Bolton Street.
* August 17-23 – Kadayawan sa Chinatown.
* August 18 – Panagtagbo or converging of tribes at the People’s Park and Rizal Park.
* August 18 – Tunog Mindanaw World Music Festival at Gaisano Mall.
* August 18 – Kasadalanan in the main streets of Davao. Drums and gongs playing indigenous beats and rhythm.
* August 19 – Hiyas ng Kadayawan at the CAP Auditorium.
* August 19-23 – Kalasikas Contemporary Music and Dance Concerts at Rizal and Peoples Parks
* August 20 – Moda Mindanaw fashion and floral design extravaganza at SM City Davao.
* August 21 – Sayaw Mindanaw or the Mindanao Dance Competition at SM City Davao.
* August 22 – Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan street dancing competition.
* August 23 – Pamulak Kadayawan Floral Float Parade and Competition.
* August 23 – Pahalipay ni Mayor sa Kadayawan at the Rizal Park, 6:00 PM.
* August 23 – Baylehan sa Dalan in the main streets of Davao City.
* August 28 – Tugtogan sa Kahiusahan at Rizal Park, People’s Park and Victoria Plaza Mall.
Do you happen to know, when the holiday will be this year for Kadayawan? Is it a regular or a special holiday? Daghang Salamat
it will be a double holiday for dabawenyos on August 21–being a Kadayawan holiday as well as Ninoy Aquino holiday as per councilor Myrna Dalodo Ortiz.

Sana maging Holiday ang August 24, 2009 since August 21 is already declared as ninoy aquino day… hope ma move yung Kadayawan Holiday natin para feel ang spirit more sa kadayawan….
