Archive for June, 2009
After more than 100+ comments, somebody has correctly guessed where I will be going this July 6-8. It is going to be my first time to step into that place, and it is the 40th province that I have been to. And that province is no other than…
June has always been a fiesta mood for the province of Leyte as the province is celebrating its annual Pintados Kasadyaan Festival in Tacloban City. Pintados Kasadyaan is usually held on the last week of June in honor of the Santo Niño. Unlike its counterparts like Cebu, Kalibo and Iloilo, Leyte is celebrating the fiesta of the Santo Niño in June and not January.

Another interesting place to visit while in Dapitan is the Church of St. James the Great which sits adjacent to the City Plaza.
The church was constructed in 1871 in honor of St. James, the patron saint of Dapitan City under the administration of the Jesuit friars. The design of the church and its exterior walls are still the same except for the added finishing on the walls.

A visit in Zamboanga del Norte will never be complete without dropping by at the Jose Rizal Shrine in Dapitan City. It has been taught to us in our History class that our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal was exiled in Dapitan for four long years.
