BYAHILO at the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2009

Last wekeend I flew to Cebu to cover the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Festival of Festivals in Mandaue City. The event is part of the annual celebration of the Founding Anniversary of the Province of Cebu. This year, the celebration is much grander as the province is celebrating her 440th year.
Upon arrival at the Cebu Mactan International Airport, I then went straight to the Cebu Provincial Capitol to get my Media ID. From the Capitol, I have to pass by the Crown Regency Tower, home of the famous Edge Coaster ride, to get our certificates which we were unable to get last week.
From there, I tool a quick lunch at a nearby fastfood, while waiting for Sinjin, who will also be covering the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Streetdance.
At around 1130AM, Sinjin and I took a cab that brought us to the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) in Mandaue City to Check out the exhibits. I also met Blooey there. We were suppoed to join the lunch with Governor Gwen Garcia but it was already 12:30PM and the streetdabnce will start in just a few minutes so we left CICC and head to the Mandaue City Hal to start shooting.
Grabe, it was just so hot. I can feel the slippers I’m wearing almost melt under the sun. The light is so harsh that my photos are all full of shadows! But still I’d rather have a sunny day than a wet Saturday afternoon.
This year’s Pasigarbo sa Sugbo is definitely much bigger and grander! There were even more contingents this year. This year 38 festivals from all over Cebu converged in Mandaue to join the festivities.
A lot of people has trooped to the streets despite the sweltering heat. It’s just a sign that people loves Pasigarbo sa Sugbo.
But just before the streetdance ended a jeepney bearing the name of Makati City Jejomar Binay followed a contingent. I am so pissed at the sight of this.
What is Mayor Binay’s jeep doing in Cebu? This is some sort of an early campaigning! Ang aga ha! The Pasigarbo sa Sugbo fiesta mood could have been extremely high if not for the jeep that passed by in front of us. A lot of people frowned at the sight of this.
I hope that in the Sinulgo 2010, politicians will not use the event for their personal agenda. Nasisira kasi ang mood ng event. Mahiya naman kayo mga politiko!
Many thanks to Miss Bess Francia from the Office of the Provincial Governor, and to the people at the Prov’l Tourism Office for accomodating our request. Sa uulitin!

I love there Costumes, its colorful!
