Masskara 2009 Update: Electric Masskara goes Ledge Dancing!

The Masskara Festival organizer is introducing another new innovation this year for the Masskara 2009: The Electric Masskara will no longer be a streetdance but a Ledge Dancing Competition affair!

Masskara festival 2009

Every year, more and more people are flocking to Bacolod City especially at the festival strip along Lacson Street to witness the newer highlight of the fiesta which is the Electric Masskara. Unlike the traditional Masskara Streetdance Parade, Electric Masskara is held at night and lights are placed in a dancer’s costume. The unique play of lights play a major role in Electric Masskara. The lights are more highlighted ion this event, unlike in the traditional masskara streetdance parade where the colors and the details of the masks are very essential.

With the huge volume of crowd at the fiesta strip, a lot of people can no longer see the dancers parading in the streets. So this year the organizers have re-invented the event and instead of having the traditional streetdance. In this year’s Electric Masskara celebration the dancers will be gyrating on top of large trailers. In this way, people can clearly see all the dancers and appreaciate more the visual effects on their costumes.

The electric masskara will be held at 8PM on October 16-18 at the Festival Strip along Lacson Street Bacolod City. Check the Full Masskara 2009 schedule here

Ric, are you going home? If you and your friends need shuttle service from the airport to Bacolod, please use my father’s airport shuttle company. It’s MECA-J Rent A Car. They can drop you off at your hotel and pick you up from the hotel with no extra charge. He’s the one who does the shuttle from SM to airport too. :)
