Cheap Accomodations in Cebu? Sugbutel is the Answer!

I have been to Cebu five times this year. And everytime I visit the the city originally known as Villa del Santissimo Nombre de Jesus, I normally book a hotel room. But during my latest trip to Cebu I didn’t book a hotel. What I got is a bed space at Sugbutel Bed & Bath .
Sugbutel is a combination of two words “Sugbo”, the old name of Cebu, and “Tel” short for hotel. Sugbutel is a no-frills bed & bath facility. Perfect for backpackers who doesn’t need all the wall-to-wall carpet, ultra cool entertainment system, and very luxurious bathroom.
Backpackers only need a place to sleep, a bathroom and shower and a place for safekeeping of backpacks.
Sugbutel has all these basic requirements and more. They have enough shower areas and toilets areas. Male and female areas are separated. There is a lobby with a wide flat TV and entertainment system where guests can mingle.
WiFi access is superbly fast. All through the night, my phone is streaming from an Internet Radio station without getting disconnected.
The area is secured too. Only registered guests are allowed inside the sleeping quarters. A deposit box for bags can be found under the pillows. For valuable items a safety deposit box is available at the front desk.
What I also like about Sugbutel is its proximity to SM City Cebu, and CNT Lechon! Oh well, my trip to Cebu would never be complete without paying homage to the Queen City’s finest Lechon.
But what is probably the best selling point of Sugbutel is its price. For amenities this good, PHP250 a night is a very very good price already. I love Sugbutel. Nakapag stay na ako jan, mura kasi 250 per head lang. Actually parang naka tourist section ka lang sa barko.
