Masskara Festival 2009 Brgy and Open Category Champion: Brgy. Taculing!

Brgy Taculing emerged as the back-to-back Champion in this year’s Masskara Festival 2009 Streetdance Competition both for the Barangay and the Open Categories.
I had the privilege to preview their performance 2 days before they went out in the streets when I was invited to their dress rehearsal. The moment I saw their routine, I know they’re going to top the contest.
They deserve to win the Grand Prize, Best in Concept and Best in Choreography awards. Their near perfect execution of the routine is just breathtaking.
I was just a bit puzzled because I was expecting Taculing to also win the Best in Mask award. But this one was handed out to Brgy Mandalagan. And while I was expecting Brgy Mandalagan to win the Best in Costume, the award was given to Brgy Taculing.
Honestly, I am not totally satisfied with the costume of Brgy Taculing. It is very different from the costumes donned by the goups previously handled by Panoy Cabalcar, the group’s choreographer.
I love the large Christmas ball used as their tails. It’s so nice to see how the tails flow on the air as they sway their hips.
But all in all, I am satisfied with their performance. I love their routine! And the very intricate mask! Weighing 2.25 kilograms, the mask is basically made of fiberglass and embedded with beads, sequins and fine laces.

ung d ko sang ayon bakit brgy 23 ung nasama sa 3rd sana ung bata nlng mas maganda sila mas dapat sila ung mananalo ng 3rd price
