Masskara Festival 2009 First runner up: Brgy Mandalagan

They were the defending champion. It was their first time to join the Masskara Festival last year and instantly won the Championship trophy. That’s why a lot of other competing groups consider Brgy Mandalagan as the group to beat.
And so last October 17 and 18 they performed at the streets and at the Bacolod City Plaza, with so many people cheering for them.
I love their costume. I thought they’re going to win the Best in Costume trophy. But it was awarded to Brgy Taculing. But they manged to snatch the Best in Mask award. Their mask is much bigger than that of Brgy Taculing. My estimate that Brgy Mandalagan’s maks would weigh about 2.5 kilograms.
I love the effect of their costumes in direct sunlight. It glitters!
And they were the group with the most number of poppers! Confetti showers every change of music to the loud cheer of the people.
While I like Brgy Taculing’s mask because of the intricate details, Brgy Mandalagan is a simple white smiling mask. This probably made them win the special award.
The only thing I do not like in Brgy Mandalagan’s performance is its concept is almost rehashed. If you will compare their performance from lat year, they’re just like the same, only that their costume got better, more confetti shower.
I am confident that if Mandalagan would changed its routine and costume pattern, they can still win the Championship trophy next year.

Te kay nag 1st runner up lng kamu mandalagan, naglampos man kamu trophy? nagwaldati man kamu sa radyo? what’s good sa mandalagan kay nag silent exit lng cla. kay perdi te baton wla man duro gamo. kay man mga edukado. ang iban da ya kung basahon mo lang ang mga comments daw si mga sin o kamu! GAHIKAY lang kamu ya ! What about ang ma feel sg mga tawo working behind s scene? dont u know na ang mga artists on both brgy, mandalagan and taculing were friends.
so payo ko lang sa inyo nga gahilikayay, BE SPORTS, MAKE FRIENDS s iban nga brgy. always remember bilog ang mundo. Not all d time daog kamu, wid all the fairness pero i salute u brgy. mandalagan for ur silkent exit kay perdi kamu. and 4 d taculingnians, wag masyadong tikalon. lasy year ky perdi kamu villamonte dala niyo daw manghiris gd kamu, just calm down n relax, kabalo ang DIYOS kng sin o ang mga dapat padag on kay they woth it. talbog ang taculing sa costume and props. ang lamang lang nila. pag pinapanood mo sila. nakikita mong hindi sila nakiki compete. nagsasaya lang sila. ang jolly jolly nila tignan… kaya pati ung nanood masaya din. un ang advantage nila.
