hi!
i just would like to clarify if the dates for the ati-atihan festival have not been changed?
i heard that the DOT opted for different dates for ati-atihan and sinulog. I could not verify the news however.
have you heard anything to this effect?
thanks and would appreciate a speedy feedback!
i dont think the date will be changed. the sched above is an official sched.
and I dont think DOT can simply chaNGE festival dates according to their wishes.
Ati atihan is celebrated on the 3rd sunday because its the feat day of Santo Nino.
DOT cannot and should not change the date. Kalibo Ati-Atihan, based on history, started way before Cebu celebrated Sinulog, and has been celebrated every 3rd Sunday of January ever since. I believe if there should be one to change the date, Sinulog should since they only patterned the festival from Kalibo’s Ati-Atihan. No offense to Cebuanos.
