Iloilo holds the 38th Paraw Regatta 2010!

The City and Province of Iloilo is now on high gear as it prepares for the upcoming Paraw Regatta 2010. Paraw Regatta is said to be the oldest sailbot racing competition in Asia.

Paraw is a wind driven sailboat used to transport people and goods during the olden times. What makes the Paraw Regatta popular is its very colorful sails. Oftentimes the sails become an artwork, full of vibrant colors portraying the annual theme of the competition.

Despite the modernization, and with the existence of pump boats, Paraws still exist today in Iloilo. There are also a lot of Paraw sailing in the island of Boracay especially during summer times.

Th 38th edition of the Paraw Regatta in Iloilo will be held on February 21, 2010, just a month after the city holds its annual Dinagyang 2010. The event will be held at the Villa Beach in Arevalo Iloilo, fronting the Tatoy’s Restaurant.
