An afternoon stroll in Carcar Church
Posted by on December 11, 2009
While I was in Cebu last October, I visited the heritage town of Carcar and checked out its beautiful Saint Catherine of Alexandria Church.
It is said that the Church in Carcar is one of the oldest, if not the oldest in the province of Cebu.
This century-old church is known for its design with strong Muslim influence. Very different from the usual baroque design used during its time.
The church actually sits on top of a hill. One has to make an uphill climb to visit the church, though the hill is not really the high. Right in front of the church is a plaza. A very typical town planning during the Spanish period.
On its side is a school and on the other side is the Carcar Dispensary which has now been converted into a museum.
