The whole world is going crazy right now doing last minute preparations for the Christmas Celebration. But in Sampaguita Gardens Resort and Spa in Kalibo, everyday is Christmas!
Sampaguita Gardens has been on top of my list since last year, but has found any chance to go to Kalibo. But recently, I found a great opportunity to drop by Kalibo for an overnight stay.
A day before the Western Visayas Tourism Assembly opened in Roxas City, I flew from Manila directly to Kalibo with two itineraries in mind: the Bakhawan Eco-Park and the Sampaguita Gardens Resort.
The Sampaguita Resort is actually located outside of Kalibo already. It can be found at the nearby town of New Washington.
Sampaguita Gardens is a creation of Precious Moments doll artist Samuel Butcher.
Right inside the resort are hotel rooms for those who want to stay for a night or two. There is also a precious moments doll collection gallery where a huge number of dolls are on display. One of the most captivating dolls on display is the life-sized Precious Moments wedding doll pair under an umbrella. The dolls are really cute!
On the second floor up to the 3rd or 4th (?) is the Santa Claus/Christmas Gallery. A vast collection of Santa Claus images, figurines, photos are on display. A part of the wall has been converted into a greeting wall where “Merry Christmas” is displayed in various languages.
At the other side of the house is a huge gingerbread house. Wow, it smells nice! there is also a miniature Christmas Village where trains keep running all over the village and people sing Christmas carols.
A small meditation chapel can be found right behind the main building of the Sampaguita Gardens Resort. On the chapel’s walls are framed images of Precious Moment characters with the words from “The Lord’s Prayer”.
Other facilities in the resort includes, a convention center, the Oriental Flavors fine-dining restaurant, The Precious Moments Gallery, an Oriental Garden, a swimming pool. There is also a beachfront area that is perfect for weddings and other occassions. A Spa and fitness center is also available for the health-conscious travelers. The kids and the kids-at-heart would definitely enjoy the Butterfly Garden inside the resort compound.
Travel to Sampaguita Garden is approximately 15 minutes from Kalibo. Entrace Fee is PHP50, but consumable. You may opt to buy snacks or gifts using your 50Peso Entrance.
Indeed Sampaguita Gardens is a must visit itinerary when in Kalibo, especially now that Ati-atihan Festival 2010 is fast approaching.
Sampaguita Gardens is more than just a destination, it is an experience!

Sampaguita Gardens is amazing. I made a visit to the place back in 2006 during the National Schools Presscon which was held in Kalibo. Just a gorgeous setting. You’re just assaulted by happiness from the moment you step into the place. It’s even more spectacular at night when everything’s lit up.
I wonder if they still have that miniature mansion display inside Mr. Butcher’s house?
I visited Bakhawan Eco-park, too. Maraming mangrove. LOL.
interesting! i should have dropped by last november…:(
will find time next time! thanks!
I’ve just read http://hubpages.com/hub/Precious-Moments-Figurines-Perfect-Gift but it did not answer all of my questions. Thanks man, that is the proper article about precious moments figurines and I have been trying to find precisely one thing like this.
