A view from the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse

When we went to Ilocos Norte last November, the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse in Bangui was not included in our itinerary. So even before we left Manila for Ilocandia, I asked Audrey that we’ll go to the Burgos Lighthouse during our free time. She agreed.

But since our itinerary changed, the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse was included in our itinerary for the third day. Yey. I was so happy since we no longer have to commute going to the lighthouse. There was only one or two buses that I saw traveling coming from Pagudppud area going to Burgos.

If we pushed through with our plans, we could have a hard time waiting for bus to pass by.

So on our third day, we left the resort early and headed to our destinations. Among them, the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse.

It was my first time to actually go here. And as always, I am astonished it its beauty. Ang ganda talaga!

The Cape Bojeador Lighthouse also known as Faro Cabo is said to be the highest lighthouse in the Philippines. Despite its age (built in 1892), the lighthouse still functions today, and guides the ships that pass by the South China Sea.

The lighthouse in Burgos Ilocos norte is just one of the very few centuries-old lighthouses that still stand mightily today.

When we visited the lighthouse, I climbed the tower up to its peak. At first it was a bit scary, but seeing the view of the South China Sea from the lighthouse’s peak is I guess something that should never be missed when visiting the place.

No entrance fee is collected. Just ask the caretaker that you want to climb the tower.
