A Glimpse of Kalibo Cathedral
Posted by on December 30, 2009
Since time immemorial, the town of Kalibo has always been known for its Ati-atihan Festival. And during these festivities, a lot of the activities are held in Kalibo Cathedral.
The Kalibo Cathedral is dedicated to its patron, Senor Santo Nino, the focal point of celebration during the Ati-atihan Festival.
When I did a quick tour of Kalibo last December 3, it was an unfortunate moment when I arrived at the Sto. Nino Cathedral. The doors of the cathedral were closed. So I was not able to see what’s inside the church.
So what I did is just take photos of the facade from various angles and left. Hoping that by the time Ati-atihan 2010 comes, I would finally be able to explore this church.

That is strange, did you try to go by the side entrance. They are always open.
Btw, this is not how the original Kalibo Cathedral looked like, everything was changed after a big earthquake last June 14, 1990.
