Captivating Capiz!
Posted by on December 31, 2009
The 2009 Western Visayas Tourism Assembly was recently held in Roxas City. The seafood Capital of the Philippines jointly hosted the event together with the Provincial Government of Capiz.
Roxas City has always been known as the Home of the Best and Freshest Seafoods in the Philippines.
My recent trip to Roxas has once again allowed me to explore the city. One of the first landmarks I saw upon arrival in Roxas City is the rotunda located at the City Plaza Area. Adjacent to the rotunda is the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral.
Another familiar landmark I got to see again is the Santa Monica Church and belfry in the neighboring town of Pan-ay. The Church is home to Asia’s largest Church bell and the world’s third largest.

We also got the chance to visit the Culajao Mangrove Eco Park. I am very much amazed at the egrets and herons flying over the pond hunting for fishes.
The mangrove eco park in Roxas is a recipient of an award durng the Western Visayas Tourism assembly for actively promoting the eco tourism in the Western Visayas region.
We also go the chance to visit an off-the-beaten-track destination: Brgy. Dumulog, which is known for its fish drying activities.
Grabe, there’s just so many fishes being dried all at the same time! Dried fish as far as the eyes can see! haha.
Indeed, Roxas City and the Province of Capiz knows how to mesmerize the tourists with its small town, provincial feel charm. Best foods, excellent attractions, laidback lifestyle, warm and friendly people. These what makes Capiz really Captivating!
