When we recently did a road trip from Roxas City to Iloilo, I made sure to drop by the Dingle church and see its really beautiful facade. But little did I know that there is another attraction in Dingle which is worth visiting: The Cry of Lincud Memorial.
It was my first time to learn about the monument. The Cry of Lincud is said to be the first cry of independence in the province of Iloilo. The revolt which took place in Dingle, Iloilo happened in October 28, 1898 and was headed by General Adriano Hernandez.
When we got to the place, I found the Philippine flag flying at a very sorry state. The royal blue field on the flag appears to be dirty white already.
Flying a Philippine flag with this pathetic state is a disrespect to our country. I hope that the local government of Dingle, Iloilo, the National Historical Institute or whoever manages the memorial site changes the Philippine Flag regularly.
