Posted by on January 8, 2010
I have not heard of ths place until I went there last December. Moroboro Dam is located in Brgy. Moroboro in the town of Dingle, Iloilo.
The dam’s official name is Jala-ur Irrigation Dam, named after the river that flows into it: the Jala-ur River.
The dam irrigates around 14,000 hectares of farmlands that covers tha towns of Dingle, Zarraga, Pototan, Barotac Nuevo, Dumangas, Anilao, and Banate. The dam is also used to as a bridge when crossing the Jala-ur River.
The dam was built in 1955 with thirteen gates that opens only when it reaches critical level. Despite its old age, it still functioning well, proving the much-needed water in several Iloilo towns.
