Tigbauan Church

When Marc, Junelle and I toured the southern Iloilo last month, the Church of Tigbauan is one of the places we visited.
I have seen this church several times. As this church sits beside the highway which leads you to the more popular UNESCO World Heritage Church of Santo Tomas de Villanueva in Miag-ao.
But I have never explored this church. Not until we went there last December.
It was built in 1575 by the Augustinian friars who spread the Christianity in the island of Panay. The church of Tigbauan is probably the only one of its kind in the Philippines. It was constructed using the Latin American Churrigueresque architectural design.
A visit to the Tigbauan is a good sidetrip during the celebration of the Dinagyang 2010. The church is easily accessible via public transport.
