The three-day Chinese New Year Celebration in Bacolod has just started! Yesterday, members of the various Chinese communities turned up along Araneta Street for the Bacolaodiat Grand Chinese Parade.
The dragon and lion dance from the Amity Volunteer fire brigade lead the afternoon parade. There were also floats representing the 12 Chinese Zodiac, and 2 more floats carrying Chinese kids wearing authentic Chinese Costume. The parade ended up at the Negros Capitol Lagoon. Drum and bugle corps from various schools were also present.
A lot of people also showed up along the streets to watch the parade. At night, a Tsinoy Show was held at the festival site and was capped by a fireworks display.
Later tonight, a lantern streetdance parade will be held along the Tourism Strip, from Capitol Lagoon, leading to the 22nd Street. A fireworks display is also scheduled tonight. The Chinese Food Fest known as Chopsticks Alley is still ongoing.
