Sinamba sa Paraw Regatta Final Performances
Posted by on February 22, 2010
Last Sunday morning, during the Paraw Regatta festival, the finals competition for the Sinamba sa Paraw regatta was staged at the Villa Beach in Arevalo Iloilo City. The event was held in front of Tatoy’s Manokan and Seafood restaurant.
The same six groups that performed last Thursday night competed again Sunday morning. This time the intensity of the competition got higher and unlike last Thursday’s performances, their final presentation of their dance routines will be on broad daylight.
This means that some of the groups have to change or at least modify their costumes, props, and even their routine.
During their final performance at the Villa Beach in Iloilo City Philippines, their energy level got even higher, and personally, I am very happy with the groups performances. Most (if not all of them) had better performances last Sunday compared to their first dance showdown at the Freedom grandstand.
During the final performances at the Villa beach, I also sat down as one of the five members of the Board of Judges. Other judges include Sir Rudy Reveche,of the Masskara Festival Streetdance Committe, and Ian de Ramos, head of the Panaad sa Negros Festival Organizing Team. Judging these very well talented groups is a very hard and tough decision.
With the kind of dance presentation they showed last Thursday night and Sunday morning, it is really hard to pick just one winner, as a lot of them are worthy of bringing home the Championship trophy. Their dances are really really beautiful. They really mademe think I am in Rio de Janeiro Carnival!

But at the end of the day, score sheets have to be tallied and there should only be one winner in this contest. Congratulations to all the participants and to the winners of the Sinamba sa Paraw regatta 2010. You all deserve an applause.
