Twenty two days to go before the Aliwan 2010, dubbed as the Philippines’ biggest festival, takes the streets anew with over 5,000 streetdancers, craftsmen, and artisans led by their regional muses, vying for the one million peso grand prize.

Expect to see the country’s most colorful festivals, the prettiest festival queens, and the most attractive floats gather all in one place!
This year, Aliwan Fiesta 2010 will be showcasing 19 20 21 17 festival streetdances, more than 11 festival queens, and 12 festival floats.
This Aliwan 2010, more new festivals will be seeing action on the street dancing competition. It is also noted that last year’s Champion, the Buyogan Festival of Abuyog Leyte Philippines won’t be joining the competition this year. This means that Aliwan Fiesta 2010 will be having a new Streetdance Champion!

This year’s Aliwan Fiesta 2010 is presented by Manila Broadcasting Company, Star City, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines, in cooperation with the Yes! Tourism Committee of SM Mall of Asia and the cities of Pasay and Manila. Check the Aliwan Fiesta 2010 schedule here.
Buyogan Festival, Aliwan Festival 2009
There will be two judging areas: one at the back of Mall of Asia, and the final judging area will be in front of Aliw Theater. Streetdance will start 4PM. Assembly area will be somewhere behind the SMX Convention Center.
Another new addition to this year’s Aliwan Fiesta is the mandatory performance of all major prize winners immediately after the Awarding Ceremony.

In my opinion, I am not excited in the awarding ceremonies of ALIWAN….matalo or manalo mabuti join parin ang ILOILO contingents…..so what kung hindi manalo? the important thing is..ILOILO contingents WOW!!!! the audience….and ALIWAN will give more exposure for the ILOILO FESTIVALS to be known in the whole country……
sa halip na kwestyunin nyo ang resulta ng mga nakaraang aliwan, bakit di nyo pag aralan kung ano ang missing factor nyo? like what i’ve said kulang kayu sa aliw or wow factors, at kapos kayu sa props. May kulang talaga kahit ako mismo nakukulanagan ako, energy nyo ay mataas pero yung tipong mapapasigaw kc sa may enexpect kang kakaiba o tipong maaliw o masusurprise ka yun ang wala kau. Ang sa inyo sayaw lang to max, na parang nakawala. kung sa dinagyang Festival for sure kayu ang champion kc more on energy at mahirap na dance movement ang labanan nyo. pero iba ang aliwan, they have diff. set of criteria for judging to be fear enough sa lahat ng contender kc hindi lahat ng festival sumasayaw ng mabilis like buyogan at sinulog.
@Ramle — isa ka bang judge sa aliwan? ano bang “wow” factor ang gusto mo? di ba pwede ding “wow” factor ang biglang mag hubo’t hubad sa gitna while performing di ba?…..kaya nga never iniba ng dinagyang ang kanilang energy sa sayaw at may iba2x silang pinapakitang bago sa ALIWAN kahit na hindi sila nanalo….yun na lamang ang pwede nilang ma i-palaki sa ALIWAN, ang pagiging unique nila sa lahat ng mga tribu sa aliwan……so para sa akin, the “only” important thing na maipakita ng dinagyang sa ALIWAN is being unique, they will never do any slow motion or wave2x pattern just to level themselves with the rest of the tribes including your sinulog and buyogan…
SORRY BUT WE DONT DO WAVE WAVE, FORWARD/BACKWARD AND SNAKE FORMATION GAYA SA SINULOG.
KAYA NGA UNIQUE DAHIL IBA KAMI. AND WERE GONNA PROVE IT NA HINDI LANG PROPS AT WAVE WAVE PATTERN ANG KAKAILANGANIN TO WIN SA ALIWAN.
SPEAKING OF WOW, LUMAD THE HALL OF FAMER IS NOT A WOWER. OPINION KO LANG YAN HA. MAS WOWER PA RIN ANG DINAGYANG AT IBANG FESTIVAL NA GALING ILOILO.
If dinagyang does what you THINK is a “wow” factor …..then it will no longer be “dinagyang”…….
sorry Kairyland….im not saying ILOILO’s dinagyang is the best….all of the festivals are the best in the philippines they are being unique in their own way…what bothers me is the “WOW” factor that Ramle is looking for……maybe he could teach the choreographers in dinagyang the correct way of “WOWING” the people…….
kung sa tingin ang pag hubo’t hubad ay wow factor,nasa sayo na yan. lahat ng tribe ay unique on thier own different way, it’s not neccesary na bagalan ang dance movement or baguhin to have wow factor or suprises. ibig kung sabihin yung tipong magugulat or mapapawow ang audience. tulad ng sinsasabi ko hanga ako sa energy at dance movement nyo mahirap pero ganun nalang hanggang matapos. look buyogan every dance formation may surprises kaya talagang magugulat ka at mapapawow ka talaga. opinion ko lang to wag mong masamain.

aliwan is a competition not a presentation, if you don’t know how to innovate you will never exist. sorry ka sabi ng source ko may pag dinagdag na ang dinagyang lalo na sa props, so alam nila na kapus sila sa props gaya ng nakikita ko.at kahit taga iloilo mismo aminadong doon sila na dihado sa props at wow factor last year, kaya ginawan na nila ng paraan ngayun. Sana sila na ang mag champion,And tom dapat open minded ko sa lahat ng bagay, be careful sa mga words na ginagamit mo lahat ng tao may karapatang ipahayag ang kanilang opinyun dapat igalang mo yun. at besides hindi ikaw ang kausap ko sa kairyland sumabat ka lang naman. salamat

CHOREOGRAPHERS in dinagyang are not stupid…..they have even more creative minds than yours……even if DINAGYANG gave their best effort if the judges in ALIWAN with a mindsite like you do not like it then it doesnt matter the important thing is a lot of people enjoyed it, they showcase the true ilonggo culture, the uniqueness and creativity…..DINAGYANG had proven a lot even outside of our country…..they are the pioneers of “innovation” if that is what you are looking for….I am aware that DINAGYANG cannot please everyone that includes you, but that wont bring DINAGYANG FESTIVAL down,…and by the way, my suggestion to you do not choose the words before you type something….just THINK first…ok?

Don’t tell me again na kung may wow factor ang dinagyang they are no longer be dinagyang? Dinagyang choreographer is not stupid, they will make any ways to para mas mapaganda pa lalo ang kanilang festival hindi sila katulad ng pag iisip mo na sarado ang pag iisip. I am excited now to watch aliwan.

now my opinion: If some of the spectators in dinagyang or the judges are dinagyang are the same mindset as yours……then dinagyang will be never be that good…..if you seeking for a “wow” factor in depends on you if what kind of “wow” factor you are referring to…cant you just put up a tribe ang show us all the “wow” factor that is missing with dinagyang…GOODLUCK
