San Juan Church in Siquijor
Posted by on April 8, 2010
The last church we got to visit while in the Mystic Island of Siquijor, Philippines is the Church in the town of San Juan. The church which sits on top of the hill was built in 1863.
San Juan Church is dedicated to its patron, Saint Augustine. The church is new. I wonder what happened to to old structure. Probably it was just made of light materials and was damaged due to wear and tear. While the original belfry is still intact. It gives an excellent contrast between old and new.
The Church in San Juan gives an amazing view of the San Juan de Capilay Spring Park.

kakainggit ka naman, nalibot mo na yata buong siquijor.
Very historical talaga since it was built in 1863.
Aww… Sana they made the new church in vintage facade para at least nagcompliment dun sa look nung bell tower.
if u guyz are int0 old churches, try visisting the maragondon church in cavite built in 1714 by the Jesuits. then u can drop by to the Bonifaio trial house as well..
the old belfry gives the vintage look of the church sayang sana napreserve nila yung old structure para mas lalong maganda, pero okay naman masyadong modern nga lang ang naging style ng church kumpara sa katabing bell tower..
Look at the contrast of the new church and the old structure beside it. Agree with comments above. Sana they preserved the look.
mas like ko pa rin yung old church.
ako sana makabisita din ng mga church
oo nga. kitang kita ang contrast ng old sa new. Sad to say mas naaappreciate ko yung new. More of aesthetic beauty ako sa structures eh. XD Pero of course naappreciate ko rin ung old. Not as much lang.
This is nice. I should get to visit this when I travel to San Juan.
inggit ako, gusto ko ring pumunta jan..
What a nice place to retreat to the past lenten season. So peaceful.
1863 pa pala yan itinayo, luma na talaga.
parang napaka peaceful naman jan..how nice!
i like the mixture of the old and new church
