Cathedral Museum of Cebu

During our recent trip to Cebu City Philippines, one of the newer places I got to discover is the Cathedral Museum of Cebu. The museum is located right beside the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. I have been to the Cebu Cathedral several times, but it was my first time to actually visit the museum.
The house which was designed as a bahay na bato was built in the 19th century. It is one of the very few old houses that still stand the test of time.
The museum has two floors of exhibits. On the ground floor are some priceless church paraphernalia like monstrance, vestments, prayer books, church retablo and chairs where the bishop of Cebu would sit during a mass.
The car which was used when Pop John Paul II visited Cebu was also parked at the museum garage. On the second floor is a much better collection of church pieces. Photography, however,, is not allowed on the second level.
Old images of santo line up the sides of the second floor. It also displays some very important medals and certificate owned by the Cebuano bishop, Julio Cardinal Rosales.
The Cathedral Museum of Cebu is under the administration of Archdiocesan Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church
