Aliwan Fiesta 2010 Photos
Posted by on April 25, 2010
Last Saturday, I went to the Mall of Asia to shoot the Aliwan Fiesta 2010. Aliwan Fiesta has always been a good excuse for several fellow Ilongos to meet and support the Ilonggo Festivals competing at the Streetdance competition. I was able to meet several fellow Ilonggos who were also members of the Skyscrapercity Forum. We all went to the streets to support the three contingents sent by Iloilo. And to show our support, we wore red shirts, which is the most dominant color of Tribu Paghida-et, the tribe who’ll be performing under the banner of Iloilo Dinagyang Festival. The Red Shirt Campaign started in Facebook, but later spread in other online forums and social networking sites.

Halamang Dilaw, Marilao Bulacan
There were 16 festivals that competed coming from as far as Penablanca, Cagayan in the north, down to Zamboanga City in the south.
Thousands of people witnessed the rand streetdance competition which started from the Mall of Asia leading to Aliw Theater in CCP Complex. But it was pretty obvious that the Dinagyang Festival was he crowd favorite. Nakakabingi ang hiyaw ng mga tao!
There were several groups that I really liked, among them the Halamang Dilaw Festival of Marilao, Bulacan, Pasaka Festival of Tanauan Leyte, Lapay Bantigue of Masbate and Zamboanga Hermosa Festival of Zamboanga City.
I was actually expecting Pasaka to grab the Second Place. Halamang Dilaw was really a stunner. I was so mesmerized at its elegance. They disproved the notion that there’s no good festival in Luzon! Ang ganda talaga nila. I would love to see Halamang Dilaw compete in Cebu Sinulog Festival’s Sinulog Based Category. I am very much excited to see the Pasaka Festival defend its crown as the Pintados Kasadyaan Festival Champion in Tacloban in June! Pintados Kasadyaan is the Festival of Festivals of the province of Leyte held every last week of June.

Padang padang Festival, Parang Maguindanao
I only got a few decent photos as I really enjoyed watching the performances and sometime, forgot to take photos.
To all the winners CONRATULATIONS! You really made your city proud!
Postscript: I just moved to a new house, outside of Metro Manila and my Internet connectio is a bit unstable. I will upload all photos once everything’s OK.
