Last Saturday, I went to the Mall of Asia to shoot the Aliwan Fiesta 2010. Aliwan Fiesta has always been a good excuse for several fellow Ilongos to meet and support the Ilonggo Festivals competing at the Streetdance competition. I was able to meet several fellow Ilonggos who were also members of the Skyscrapercity Forum. We all went to the streets to support the three contingents sent by Iloilo. And to show our support, we wore red shirts, which is the most dominant color of Tribu Paghida-et, the tribe who’ll be performing under the banner of Iloilo Dinagyang Festival. The Red Shirt Campaign started in Facebook, but later spread in other online forums and social networking sites.

Halamang Dilaw, Marilao Bulacan
Here’s the list of the winners of Aliwan Fiesta 2010 float and streetdance competition held yesterday from Mall of Asia leading to the Aliw Theater in CCP Complex.

Yesterday morning I woke up very early to shoot the Aliwan Fiesta dancers during the Unang Hirit TV Show aired at GMA7. Present during the 3-hour TV show are the Halamang Dilaw of Marilao Bulacan, Kilingkilingan Festival of Penablanca,Cagayan, Lapay Bantigue of Masbate, Boling-boling Festival of Catanauan, Quezon, Pajotan Festival of Caloocan and Buklod Festival of Parang Maguindanao.
Shooting during Unang Hirit is a big effort. Imagine waking up very early in the morning. But what I like abut shooting during the GMA morning show is that there are only few photographers in the area, and the sunlight is not so harsh, compared to the afternoon streetdance parade.

Lapay Bantigue, Masbate
Yesterday was the first day of the annual Aliwan Fiesta 2010. Just like before, the opening day’s program is PASAKALYE, an inter-school dance contest participated by the various schools from all over Metro Manila.
