The Tibiao Fish Spa Experience!
Posted by on June 7, 2010
Fish Spa is something that is a novel to Filipinos. Last May while I was in Iloilo City, Philippines, I went to check out the The Tibiao Fish Spa branch in SM City Mandurriao.
I have heard a lot of good tales about the Tibiao Fish spa, so when I was in Iloilo I made sure to visit the place.
The original Tibiao Fish Spa is located in the town of Tibiao, Antique. The business is a joint project of three University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV Miag ao) College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences grads who thought of creating a business that is something new and will be a big hit among the people. One of the business partner Rex Dianala is a good friend of mine. Too bad he wasn’t there when I visited the place. (Kasi, I didn’t tell him I’m going there on that date and time!
)
Upon arrival you will be greeted by the friendly staff to register. After registration and payment of the spa services, you will be led inside the facility where you get to pick which pond will be using. There are three ponds available and each pond has different sizes of fish. And to maximize the fish spa experience I tried the EXTREME POND which has the largest fishes. Grabe! nakakakiliti talaga, sobra!
You’d really feel how the fishes work to clean your feet. But unlike the expensive fish spas i Metro Manila that uses the Garra Ruffa which are expensive and hard to maintain, Tibiao Fish Spa, on the other hand uses several varieties of fishes sourced from the highlands of Tibiao.
The Fish spa may sound fancy to many, it doesn’t necessarily translate to expensive rates. In fact the Tibiao fish Spa experience is only PHP100 for 30 minutes. Very cheap for a very relaxing moment. I would highly recommend this when you are in Iloilo City, or if you have time, visit its main spa in Tibiao, Antique.
