THE Baby Back Ribs at Casa Verde, Cebu

Posted by on August 9, 2010

A few week’s back. I found myself devouring large portions of back ribs at the Casa Verde in Cebu City Philippines. Nakakaloka ang Ribs! It was a short 6-hour trip to Cebu. I was just on a connecting flight from General Santos City to Manila. But I opted to get a flight with stopover in Cebu as ticket is much cheaper.

Originally I planned to have a lunch at the CNT Lechon. But Ed suggested Casa Verde. I haven’t tried it yet before so I willingly obliged.

Upon arrival at the Cebu Mactan International Airport, Ed, together with Doipicked me up at the arrival area then we’re all headed towards Casa Verde. We went to the original Casa Verde restaurant at #69 Lim Tian Teng St. Cebu City. The Restaurant is near the F. Ramos Street.

Looking from the outside, the place looks like it has been an old house converted into a cozy restaurant.

I just love the ambiance inside. It’s so homey. Not too noisy. You still get to hear the sound of spoons from time to time.

So I asked Ed about their bestseller. He and he said “Brian’s Ribs”. Intrigued, I ordered the Brian’s Ribs.

When our foods came, I got the best surprise ever. Ang laki ng ribs! Nakakaloka! Looking amused, Ed said “Sorry! nakalimutang kong sabihin na malaki ang orders dito!” Hahaha I love it!

Kung gaano kalaki ang size nya, ganun din kalaki ang sarap nya! Bongga! I love the texture of the meat. Its so smooth, tender, and oozing with all the flavors.

It was a fine dine experience without even shelling out thousands. It was a fine dine experience with a fastfood price tag.

And next week, I am scheduled to go back to Cebu. Of course, Casa Verde has already been included in my itinerary. But this time, it’s my turn to bring blogger friends Don and Fitz to experience the famed Brian’s Ribs.

Wait, you might want to ask how much I paid for the hebigat ribs? It’s less than 200 Pesos. Mura noh?
