A weekend of pure bliss at Be Resorts Mactan Cebu
Posted by on August 17, 2010
Last weekend, I got the chance to stay at the Be Resorts in Lapu Lapu City Mactan. I was actually in the province of Cebu to cover the 3rd Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Festival of Festivals in Mandaue City.
Two weeks before Don, Fitz, and I flew to Cebu for the grand event, we got an invitation to stay at Be Resorts in Mactan.
We arrived at Mactan Cebu International Airport at around 9:30AM. A friendly hotel staff was waiting for us at the arrival airport. We then met the Hotel Manager Miss Andrea Lugue. Since it was just 10AM, we had to wait a bit before our room get fixed. This is understandable since most hotels have 1-2PM check in time.
We waited at the hotel lobby and I was totally blown away at the hotel furniture. Oh well, Mactan has always been known for the world class furniture, many of them actually gets exported to foreign lands.
The view of the pool is also very nice. The weather in Cebu is almost summer-like when we went there, so I was really tempted to go and swim right at that moment.
I think majority of the hotel guests are Koreans. You would normally see them like bees buzzing all together at the lobby during breakfast, while some are waiting for their guides for their City Tour. During mid day until the afternoon, only a few of them are left at the hotel.
While the Hotel Facade is more square-ish in design, the interiors are all accentuated with circles. From the Room Number, corridors, and mirrors. I love it!
the bed and pillow is very comfortable. They are using the chiropractic-approved mattress and pillows which gave me a good sleep. Our room has a nice veranda which gives us a good top view of the pool and the beach. Too bad, I wasn’t able to take a swim at the pool.
During our first night, we were also treated to a sumptuous dinner. The hotel restaurant offers a wide array of Asian cuisine. We were served with Roti Prata, Nasi Goreng, Pad Thai, Hainanese Chicken, Crispy Pata, and Tom Yum. Among the foods served, I particularly like the Hainanese Chicken, Pad Thai, and the tom Yum.
I cannot say if these are authentic or not since I haven’t been to Singapore and Thailand, but I love the flavors fo their food. I am not a big fan of spicy foods, but I was able to finish my Tom Yum. It’s spicy, but the sweetness is just perfect to tame the spiciness of the soup. The Hainanese chicken is good paired with the ginger oil condiment.

Free WiFi access is also available at the public areas of the resort.
Be Resort is a perfect escape from all the noise of the city. I just love that it is located far from the city. It give you more time for your self. and just enjoy the whole weekend either taking a dip in the pool, or play the Wii in their game room.
The resort is just a few kilometers away from the Mactan Shrine, the famed spot where the Portuguese Navigator Ferdinand Magellan fought with the local chieftain Lapu Lapu.
Many thanks to Ka Bino Guerrero, Cebu’s top tour guide for introducing me to Andrea Lugue of Be Resorts. For Cebu tour bookings, you may contact Ka Bino at 0919 3805853.
