Ostrich Dinner at Kagay-anon Restaurant
Posted by on September 22, 2010
Even before I landed in Cagayan de Oro, also known as the City of Golden Friendship, Kagay-anon Restaurant has already been in my must-try foodie places. Why? Because it serves Ostrich Meat! Exotic, isn’t it?
Kagay-anon is one of the top restaurants in Cagayan de Oro that specializes in Filipino fares. But probably, the house best sellers are the dishes cooked with ostrich meat. Yup, heard it right, OSTRICH.
Ostrich meat supply is not a problem in Cagayan de Oro as there’s a farm in the nearby town. I’m not sur thogh if their meats are from Opol, Misamis Oriental.
For the untrained, one would never notice any major difference in color or even in taste between ostrich meat and beef.
The food at Kagay-anon Restaurant is good, and the prices are very reasonable. The food servings are large too. Most of the foods are good for two to three persons already.
The interiors are well lighted, the ambiance is really good for family dining, or for small group dinner.
During our dinner at the restaurant, Marc, Sinjin and I ordered Ostrich Salpicao, Pork Sweet and Sour, and Bangus.
The food really tastes so good, especially the ostrich salpicao. We actually don’t have any idea what to order from the ostrich menu, the waiter suggested their bestseller salpicao. Know I know why it’s a hit among the customers. The meat is very tender and is oozing with all the flavors.
I am flying to Cagayan de Oro again on Sunday, and I have to make sure to go back here again!
Kagay-anon Restaurant is located at the Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.
