Sinulog Festival Queen 2011

It was a night full of glitz and glamour. Last night the traditional CebuSinulog Festival Queen Search was held at the Abellana sports Complex attended by thousands of cheering crowd. This year, 20 lovely candidates representinva the various contingents joined the Festival Queen Search. This is the year with the most number of participants since the Festival Queen Search was instituted.

The annual Search for the Festival queen is a contest among the female lead dancers held every Friday before the Grand Parade. Unlike beauty pageants, The Sinulog queen is a contest for the best and the most graceful lead dancer of Sinulog. It is a contest of how well you carry the image of the Santo Nino while dancing and offering your prayer.

And for the first time, a representative of Cebu won the much coveted title of The Sinulog Festival Queen. The representative of the group Lumad Basakanon bested 19 other lass to grab the title.

The search for the Festival Queen is also a sneak preview of what you are going to see on Sunday’s grand parade, as each group is required to present a short 2 minute production. You also get to see the various costumes these groups will be using during the streetdance.
