Gensan Kalilangan Festival 2011 Schedule

General Santos City or more popularly known as GenSan is set to celebrate is founding anniversary in a few weeks time. The anniversary commemorates the landing of General Paulino Santos at the shores of the Sarangani Bay. And the Generals remember the founding anniversary of the city through the annual Kalilangan Festival.

Kalilangan is taken from the work “Kalilang”, a Maguindanaoan word meaning celebration. In a nutshell, the Kalilangan Festival is a celebration of the Generals. During the week-long festivity various activities are lined up like street parties, food festivals, Trade Fairs, concerts, and street dancing competition.

This year I am so excited to fly to General Santos to witness this event. I have been trying to go to the Kalilangan for several years now but due to conflict in schedule I have to cancel.
