I am currently in the northern part of the Sugarlandia. I’m staying here for 3 weeks. Can’t fully disclose any details yet, but the photo below will probably give you a hint why I am here. And you’d know why I am here for 3 weeks long soon
Internet connection is very limited. So I only get the chance to update when I am back in the capital city.

Last Friday, my friend and I ended up having lunch at Don Merto’s in SM City Cebu. We were actually at the mall looking for a place where we can have a quick lunch before going to my suking bead shop. While we were walking figuring out where to eat, I remembered that I had GC at Don Merto’s Restaurant courtesy of the coolest folks at BUYanihan

For lunch, my friend and I had Fresh Corned Beef, Ono Fried Chicken and their House specialty Back Ribs. Among the three my favorite is the Fresh Corned Beef.
The saltiness is just right. The beef is very tender. It is not your typical off-the-tin-can corned beef. It is freshly boiled with all its goodness. The corned beef is served with your choice of either plain or garlic rice, mashed potatoes or veggies.

I also tried the back ribs. It’s OK. Yummy and perfectly cooked. I like the basting sauce. smells good too! I don’t really like the Ono Fried Chicken with Teriyaki Sauce. But my friend liked it so much that he orered it again on our second visit!

The place has an ambience that is very typical of any restaurant in a mall. My friend and I went to Don Merto’s in Juana Osmena Avenue, which is I suppose is the original. I prefer the look and feel of Don Merto’s Juana Osmena. Although the ambience in Juana Osmena branch is better, my friend and I were unanimous in picking the SM brach as the ones with the better food. My friend said the Ono Fried Chicken in Juana Osmena is a little bit too salty. The Fresh corned Beef (Yup, I also ordered it again) is served with with slices of beef, the ones at SM Branch is served with three slices.

During our Saturday lunch, we no longer ordered the back ribs and instead we had Caesar Salad. The salad is served with melted parmesan made into a wall. The chess is oh-so-yummy, and so is the salad! I love the dressing of the salad. Tamang tama ang lasa! Perfect!

Despite the inconsistencies, I would still go back to Don Merto’s and experience heirloom recipes cooked everyday. Great foods at reasonable prices. Thumbs up!

Last Friday I took an early morning flight from Manila to Cebu. This is my third time in the queen city of the south this year, but I am still giddy that Im back in Cebu. There were several items on my to-do list for this trip. among them, buy raw materials for a project, do a review of restaurant and test/review 2 bags.

Passi City Iloilo is all set to celebrate the annual Pintados de Pasi Festival 2011. The festival tells the story of the Passinhon during the olden times. The townsfolk in Passi were known for the tattoo all over their bodies. The more tattoo a person has, the more respect he gets from the community. And because of this one of a kind artwork, the men and women of Passi where called by the Spaniards as the “Pintados” or the painted people. this year’s Pintados de Pasi theme is “Kulturang Passinhon: Amligan para sa Katawhayan kag Kauswagan”
