Kadayawan sa Davao 2011 Schedule
Posted by on April 15, 2011
Mindanao’s biggest festival is set to happen this August in Davao City! The Kadayawan sa Davao 2011 is an annual festival of thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest. Kadayawan is taken from the word “Madayaw” a common greeting used in Davao City.
There are a lot of events scheduled during August in line with the fiesta celebration, but the two most important event in Kadayawan are the Indak Indak sa Kadalanan or the Streetdancing competition and the Pamulak Kadayawan or the Floral Float Parade.
Every year, several schools from Davao City in the Philippines as well as from the nearby towns and provinces join the streetdancing competition. Last year’s grand champion was from Purok Sison Elementary School in Surallah, South Cotabato. The Pamulak sa Kadayawan is also a visual treat for the tourists. Large floats made of indigenous materials and flowers parade through the streets of Davao City. The Pamulak sa Kadayaan is the Mindanao’s version of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.
