Aliwan Fiesta 2011 Winners will be known today

Today is the last day of the Aliwan Fiesta 2011. And the Aliwan fiesta 2011 will be announced just before midnight today!
This afternoon, 18 festivals will be performing from Quirino Grandstand, Manila in the Philippines and will be doing a streetdance towards Aliw Theater. Also joining in this afternoon’s grand parade are the 18 floats from various town and provinces as well as the beauty queens ho are vying for the title of Aliwan Festival Queen 2011.
Various contingents have been busy doing thier blocking rehearsals at the Quirino Grandstand as well as at the aliw Theater. I have seen several groups do their rehearsals and I aam very very excited for the tomorrow’s parade.

I have also seen some of the floats being decorated at the Aliw theater yesterday. although all floats were not yet 100% done, I am totally impressed at the beauty of the float from Bulacan which uses bamboo with detailed shavings all over.

dinagyang have been the best because dinagyang was brought up by the faith,beliefs,honor HIM above all,passion,dedication, and dinagyang is the best because of the local the tribes here in ILOILO CITY they did their best to and yet only the champ will emerge. any tribe on the top 10 dinagyang competition this 2011 gave the judges a hard time if any of them was given a chance for aliwan they would still emerge as winners…

Backing out is a different topic. My statement is based on observation. As an avid fan and follower of Aliwan, I noticed the lack of strong competition the last two years. Those festivals backed out and that’s the only thing we can say about it. We cannot prove or disprove the level of competition that they bring if they did join. Someone mentioned festivals that backed out and branded them weak for not joining this year. As an example, Sinulog and Buyugan won over Dinagyang when they joined so they already made a point there – these festivals are strong competition. Had they lost, I would concede to the argument presented. But then again, my opinion was solely based on the current roster of competing contingents. Dinagyang lorded over them and I support their victory the past two years. My thought of that victory though was that it was already a given, not earned. Due to the lack of strong competition – I guess we can say absence of it.
A win is still a win. Hard earned or not. Enjoy!
that’s correct…the competition was not that stong…wala ang sinulog winners…actually sinulog at dinagyang lang ang strong festivals…pls look at the winning records of these festivals…and in the absence of cebu’s sinulog, 2011 aliwan lacks competition…pls iloilo stop boasting! cebu is still the country’s top tourism destination and earner…and it’s way up economically than iloilo…pls accept these facts…CEBU IS STILL THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT URBAN CENTER IN THE COUNTRY…whether we like i t or not, cebu is the center of the visayas and mindanao…daghan pa man tingali kaunon ang iloilo? ayaw gud kaayo tikal! please be updated.
Pinanood ko ang dinagyang at sinulog pareho. Both festival ay maganda pero mas lamang sa tingin ko ang dinagyang. Maganda ang performance at cheorography, very energetic at maganda ang drum beat. Food festival is also good. Sa aliwan naman ay magagaling ang mga different festival showcasing their different unique festival. Yung sa Zamboanga ay magaling din at sa batangas pero iba talaga ang dinagyang festival ng tribu pan ay at ang pantat festival. Kitang kita ang galing ng performance. Sa Sinulog dapat sumali kayo para makita din ang ganda ng festival niyo. kaso di ko alam kung bakit hindi sumali. Pagkakaalam ko dami ng sponsor niyo pero saan kayo? kahit wala kayo eh successful pa din ang Aliwan at ang dami dami ng tao. Ipinagmalaki pa naman ang Festival nyo….

zamboanga hermosa festival is one of the best performers na nag perform sa ALIWAN 2011. .and isa sa mga pinalakpakan at hinangaan ng mga tao .;especially ang mga judges. .di nmin inexpect na magiging runners up lng kme because of the wrong synopsis na ibinasa ng mga mc’s that nyt. .kung tama lng sana ung synopsis na binigay samin . .ma maintain pa nmin ang pagiging second placer nmin ..even 3rd placer lng. .pero dinaya kme. .but it’s ok babawi kme next yir mas bongga at malakas na zamboanga ang makikita nyo next year. .

Di naman po yata lahat ng Cebuano mayayabang. Para wala na pong gulo tayo na lang sana yung umunawa. Kung edukado kang tao ikaw na lang ang umunawa kaysa patulan mo, mas ikaw pa ang mag mumukhang walang grado. Alam naman nating na-proclaim na yung winner edi sana hinayaan na lang natin yung ibang tao na mag kumento, total hindi na naman niya ma babago yung resulta sa pag bigay niya ng kumento. Sinunog: =) Hindi po umatras yung SINULOG. Hindi kasi taga Cebu yung nanalo sa Free Interpretation Category at Sinulog Base last January. Mga out of town contingents yung nanalo. =).

@Kent Gallego – its nice to comment, pero wala naman insulto. Sinulog is Sinulog and Cebu is Cebu, we don’t understand Sinulog Festival. tiba Cebu yan? bakit meron pang ibang province. Yes, pwede yung runner up. like what happen in 2004 aliwan festival. Dinagyang Champion was tribu Bola-bola, but the representative of aliwan was Tribu Atub-atub( the 1st runner up). but still the Dinagyang won the Aliwan.
just to correct somebody’s allegation na dinaya ang zamboanga hermosa – the judges didnt have your synopsis. the synopsis is submitted for the script. it had no bearing on the judges score. yan ang problema pabago-bago ng pinapadala. pag sinabing deadline eh february 15 tama bang magpadala kayo ng ibang synopsis pagdating ng march 24?
maraming magaling this year, especially among the first time competitors like surallah, calaca, mindoro – eh kahit nga pasig at baguio nag-level up! hindi ito competition ng weaklings. it’s a competition of those who could afford to send their contingents.
there were a lot of considerations why other groups backed out, and foremost of these were finances. hindi sila kasing-yaman ng iloilo, who can easily spend 3.6 million per contingent.
and in this day and age where money like that can be put to better use, local government units definitely think twice before splurging. in the case of cebu, they do not need to promote sinulog — it’s already a major tourism draw. so why pour money into promoting it in manila?
masbate, in turn, has to solve its security situation before stepping up tourism promotions. ditto the armm areas.
ang weird and razon, leyte – they didnt participate simply because their mayor would be out of the country.

Isnt it that Sinulog had initially confirmed to send Abellana National High School to Aliwan 2011? Then maybe it would be right to say that Cebu still have plans to promote Sinulog in Manila. Come on, the major factor why Cebu backed out is finances and nothing else.
Cebu is still continuously promoting Sinulog all over so it is quite an exaggeration to say that Cebu does not need to promote Sinulog because it is already a major tourism draw!
In fact, I think, Cebu has to promote more because it has already started to feel the effects of the presence of Dinagyang and other festivals.

Wala naman masabi ang iba pag na corner sa tapiko tungkol sa festival ,ibahin naman ang topic na progressive at kong ano ang cebu at luma na na mga pautot yan na na give way ang cebu para manalo ang dinagyang obvious naman na walang kwenta ang sinulog at walang binat bat sa dinagyang ng iloilo…mga cebuano lang ang nagsasabi nito lahat alam na ng karamihan na mas di hamak talaga na maganda ang dinagyang at marami pa ang mas maganda sa sinulog more lang ang sinulog sa promotion at hindi sa kalidad ng festival kita nyo kahit ang nanalo sa sinulog hindi taga cebu mismo talo pa sila ng hindi taga lugar nila.

Why don’t that Dinagyang Festival join the sinulog festival in 2012? and let’s see who will be in the top 5 to stop the “weakling” speculations. I haven’t heard of dinagyang festival joining the sinulog festival ever since, in order to see who will really dominate among the buyogan festival, tribu himag-ulaw and the representatives from cebu. and i suggest they send 2 representatives to compete for the sinulog-based category and free-interpretation categories just like what they have done to the aliwan festival.

prove it na walang binatbat and kalidad ang sinulog over your dinagyang. and, have you seen the records of the winners of the sinulog festival ever since it started as a competition? are you really sure that none from the representatives of Cebu won the sinulog festival? AFAIK, there are several groups from Cebu who is in the hall of fame for being the consecutive champions before so don’t comment something as if you know EVERYTHING about the history of the sinulog.

We must just respect who will be the winner especially in this upcoming Aliwan 2012. Congratualtion to Dinagyang Festival for winning Aliwan 2011 and hope to showcase more this year. I applaud also the Sinulog Festival of Cebu. It’s really shows how I’m so proud being a Filipino seeing some of this festival but remember there’s a lot of festival in the Philippines. Almost every month there’s a lot of festival from Ilocos going to Sulo. I’ve witness when I visited Masskara Festival in Bacolod City and it really make me wow of the unique and like Madri Gras of the Philippines. So just like comparing the this festival has a great potential to compete also in Aliwan. I’m proud of my country and hopefully Manila has also its own festival. I’m from Taguig.
