Great Lunch at Kiko’s Restaurant in General Santos City

To say that the foods in Kiko’s Restaurant in General Santos is delicious is an understatement. Hanep ang foods! It was last May 9th when Avel together with Alexis brought me this native resto along South Osmena Street.

Grilled Squid, stuffed with tomatoes and onions
Just by looking at its interiors, it’s easy to guess that Kikos Restaurant is offering Filipino homecooked foods.
For lunch Avel and I had Tinolang Maya maya,Kiko’s Fried Chicken, Grilled Squid, Lechon Kawali, Grilled big Eye tuna. I also ordered durian shake.
First to arrive on the table are our drinks. The durian shake is really smooth. Its so creamy, not too sweet. I’m sure durian hates would love this concoction as it doesn’t have the typical smell that’s making this king of the fruits so infamous.
Then finally, lunch was served. The tuna looks very dry on the outside, but it’ll givve you a surprise after slicing it. The tuna is very juicy and tender on the inside, and very flavorful too. Kiko’s Resto is using the Big Eye Tuna variety, which, according to the restaurant owner, is more juicy and tender comapared to the common tuna vareity found in Gensan which is the Yellow Fin.
The lechon kawali is very sinful. The fats, literally melts in your mouth! Kung hindi lang deadly ang pork fats, naubos ko na sana yun. It has a butter-y consistency. The lechon kawali is complemented by sukang tubo, or vinegar made from sugarcane juice.
But among the foods served to us, the one that really made its mark is the fired chicken. Its’s crispy outside, and oh-so-juicy on the inside. Kakaiba ang flavor. Kahit walang sauce masarap na sya! Winner ang fried chicken! I bet my 3-year old nephew would love that too!
Another thing I love about Kiko’s Restaurant is that everything is priced reasonably. Good food at great price, perfect!
