Whitewater Rafting in Davao

Posted by on May 18, 2011

It was a week of adrenaline rush! Last week I was in Davao City to experience a one of a kind thrill of White water Rafting! Late last yer, I had the oppurtunity to try the white water tubing in Maitum Sarangani. But I’m pretty sure that the experience I’ll go through in Davao is totally different from the ones I had in Sarangani.

It was my first time to experience this kind of adventure. I really don’t expect much, probably except for the fact that, I’ll be splashed with so much water, and the probability that our raft might capsize. Oh well, it’s part of the fun!

Our day started early. at 8:30AM we all went to the Davao Wild Water shop inside the Davao Crocodile Park area along Diversion Highway in Maa, Davao. Upon arrival, we signed a waiver. Pramis! sa sobrang excitement, di ko na to binasa! haha

After signing the waiver, we then picked our life jackets and helmets. Naku sana lang kasya sa akin ang life vest, and more importantly, lulutang ako dito noh!

After getting our lifevest, pre departure briefing started with an video presentation of what to expect during the rafting. Looks like its gonna be fun! The Davao White water Rapids is said to be a Category 3.

After the briefing we were then sent to the location. Our guides informed us that the whole length of rafting experience is around 13 kilometers and would last around three hours.

Upon arrival at the Put in Area we had another round of briefing. This time we were taught how to wear the life vest properly, what to do in case the raft capsized, and of course we were taught the basic commands in paddling.

And so the adventure started. Parang telenovela lang. It all started smooth, then unti unting nagiging wild na ang lahat! Nakakaloka ang mga rapids. Sigaw kung sigaw!

There are several rapids (I lost count!) of varying degrees of scream factor. I noticed that most of the more challenging rapids wre on the second half of our adventure. It was after our picnic lunch. Tamang tama, busog ang lahat, Masarap mag siesta! bongga ang rapids!

White Water Rafting is priced at P2000/pax and is inclusive of the following:

-Transportation (From Crocodile Park to Rafting Area and back)
- Packed Lunch & Bottled Water
- Use of Gears & Equipment
- Raft guide
- Souvenir Shirt
- Documentation (2 Disc per group of 6)
- Ticket to ZIP CITY

Our rafting experience though was complimentary, many thanks to Air Phil Express who brought us to Davao City to experience this one of a kind adrenaline rush! For more details about the Davao Wild Water Adventure, check out their website
