Happy 150th Birthday Jose Rizal
Posted by on June 19, 2011
Today, the Filipino nation celebrates the 150th birth year of Dr. Jose Rizal. Rizal is known as the national Hero of the Philippines and is one of the key personalities behind the Philippine Independence.
He is a well-travelled man. He has ben to a lot of countries meeting interesting people along the way. He is best known for writing two novels, the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.
He was put into exile in Dapitan City in Zamboanga del Norte. There, he got to buy a parcel of land, taught the kids how to read and write.
Rizal was also detained in Intramuros and was then executed in Bagumbayan (now Luneta Park) on December 30, 1896.
If Rizal is alive today, I wonder how his Facebook status would read. Or what would be his stand on issues like RH Bill, or the new Divorce bill? Would he agree to the planned K12 educational system? Will he take an afternoon stroll at a park or would prefer to go to a shopping mall?
Photos on this blog post were from my banknote collection the has images of Jose Rizal on it. All of them are graded uncirculated, or crisp and has no creases in layman’s term.
These notes are special and in very limited in number as these have overprint to commemorate special occasions. Like the Centennial of Rizal’s Martyrdom, Pastoral Visit of Pope John Paul II, and the World Youth Day.

Lucky you!
Suwerte mo sir. Meron din ako niyan isa lang. Pero yung orig na piso. Binigay ng lola ko noong buhay pa siya.
