Honda Bay Tour in Puerto Princesa
Posted by on July 13, 2011
Visiting Puerto Princesa City will never be complete without doing the Honda Bay Tour. Honda Bay tour allows you to experience the best white sandy beaches of Puerto Princesa.
The province of Palawan is so blessed with a lot of natural attractions. So it is not a surprise if the province is one of the top eco tourist destinations in the Philippines.
Puerto Princesa City alone has a lot of attractions where travelers can experience at their own pace. But probably one of the must experience while in Puerto Princesa is the Honda Bay Tour.
To do the Honda Bay tour, one needs to go to Sta. Lourdes Wharf to register. You don’t need a travel agent or tour operator to do this. Just go to the wharf, register, and tell them youre on your own.
If you need snorkel, there are stores at te wharf that rents snorkel sets for a minimal fee. Before leaving Sta. Lourdes Wharf, buy LOTS of bread. This is not for your consumption, but for Fish feeding!

Honda Bay is dotted with several islands with white sandy beaches. The first island We got to visit during our Honda Bay island tour is the Isla Pandan.
Pandan Island is named as such because of the abundance of the pandan plant in the island. The pandan tree is different from the pandan plantthat usually added when boiling rice, or when making the Buko Pandan dessert.
We had our picnic lunch in Pandan Island. We also got to feed some cutesy striped fishes before we had our lunch. I enjoyed the fish feeding activity here as visibility is really good. The place is clean and the sand is fine too.
From Pandan Island we then went to the snake island. The island is named as such because of its elongated shape that resembles a snake when viewed from the top.
Fish feeding in Snake island is always a promise. The fishes here are larger than the ones in Pandan Island ans the species are more varied. But visibility was a bit of a problem wen we were there recently because of the gloomy skies. But I still manage to feed several larges fishes there ans I was not disappointed, after all.
From the Snake Island we then rode our pumpboatd and headed towards the Pambato Reef, passing by the Starfish Island. Starfish Island is said to have lot of starfishes in the area, but we were all eager to go the Pambato Reef to snorkel around the coral garden.
But it was already late in the afternoon. The wind is blowing like crazy. The current is very strong so I just decided not to jump as a safety precaution.
From there we went back to the Sta. Lourdes wharf happy and satisfied with our whole day tour of the Honda Bay. This is one thing that I really didn’t enjoy much during my previous visit to Puerto Princesa.

i visited the place in 2006. i think the best island i went to in honday bay would be snake island as it doesn’t charge any entrance fee and the waters in front of it is teeming with fishes.
