Feasting on Boholano Foods in Amorita Resort

While I was in Amorita Resort in panglao Bohol recently, one of the things that I got to experience is the unique flavors of the Boholano foods.
Before, I only think of Peanut kisses and kalamay as THE Boholano food. But through Amorita Resort in Panglao, we got to experience what Boholano food is all aboout.
Most of the time we get to hear popular Pinoy food versions like Bicolano, Ilokano, Kapampangan or Ilonggo foods. But have you heard of the Boholano food?
Through our stay at the resort, I learned that there are two basic ingredients in most Boholano foods: Ginger and coconut milk. Most foods in Bohol contain these two essential ingredients.
Our first dinner in Amorita Resort was called Ginger Night. And yeah, all our foods contain hints of ginger from its very soft freshly made breads down to its dessert and drinks. The ginger orange panna cotta dessert is the bomb!
Our lunch during the second day was bursting with even more Boholano goodness! For our feast, we had Chicken Binakol (Chicken cooked in coconut juice with young coconut strips), Chicken halang-halang (chicken cooked in coconut milk and chili), Fish Sinanglay (Fish cooked in coconut milk, wrapped in pechay), Talka (crayfish) cooked in coconut milk and ginger, Kinilaw na guso or seaweeds, and Balbacua. For dessert we had tiramisu made of puro artisan chocolate topped with specially made broas.
Among the local delicacies served during lunch, my favorites are the chicken halang halang and the balbacua. I have tried other variations of balbacua (in Davao and Cebu) but the ones in Amorita is a standout. The chicken halang halang’s spiceness is very mild and I love it so much. the sauce is very creamy. Masarap ilagay sa kanin!

So if you are in Bohol, I highly suggest you drop at the Saffron Restaurant in Amorita Resort and experience the delectable taste of the Boholano Foods.
