SWISH Moments

Traveling has always been a fun experience for me. Aside from discovering new places and fresh activities to enjoy, it is also an adventure to try out the various local delicacies in the cities that I often visit.

Everytime I experience something new I am always amazed at it. The Wow Factor is always there. It’s a Swish Moment. It’s something fresh you haven’t tried before but you’ll definitely love it once you’ve tried it yourself.

In the province of Negros Occidental, one of the newer attractions is The Ruins located in Talisay City, some 15 kilometers north of Bacolod City.

It was a grand mansion built by a sugar baron in loving memory of his Portuguese wife. But when the war came, the guerilla forces burned the mansion so that the Japanese forces could not use it.

When I first visited the mansion three years ago, it elicited a lot of “oohs” and “ahhs” from me. It was so beautiful. I got so mesmerized the place looks very European.

The Ruins is a fresh addition to the tourist spots in Negros Occidental but has immediately caught the attention of the tourists, photographers as well as those who would simply love to have experience the grand lifestyle of the Negrenses. Until now I keep on coming back to the place as it adds newer attractions from time to time.

And while exploring the Philippine islands, tasting its local delicacies is also a must. So whether I have chicken inasal for lunch, or napoleones for merienda I need not worry about bad breath as I always bring Swish mouthwash with me. It’s alcohol-free perfect for daily use. And with Swish on my backpack, I am always guaranteed of fresh breath confidence everyday.

So whether I’d go to Cebu or Iloilo on my next adventure. You’re always sure of what’s inside my backpack. It’s Swish mouthwash for more fresh confidence and for more fresh discoveries!

And in line with discovering new destinations and fresh activities while on travel, Swish Mouthwash and BYAHILO is holding a new contest where you share your Swish moments and get a chance to win lunch for 2 at Discovery Country Suites, Tagaytay worth Php10,000.

When I travel – apart from researching beforehand where the places to go to are at, as soon as I reach the destination and the tour guide is with us, I believe the fun actually begins! Sponteaneous sidetrips especially asking the locals what foods are best to try, what other secret places are best to go to is a must! Searching for new discorveries is imppersing yourself into that place and its history imagining you are part of the locals. SWISH was able to help me in my recent travel to Bohol with my husband – a first for us by actually interacting with the locals and just having fun! I even remembered an instance wherein my husband wanted just the both of us to explore Panglao Beach while the tour guide just waited for us outside – we got lost and walked an hour going back only to find out we reached another barrio! That was fun because we got to see a lot of new things and discovered so much about Panglao. :) SWISH was there to bring out the confidence and fun during the whole trip!

  7. I am more of an Urban Traveler which for me, makes the travelling part more exciting.
It’s the thrill of actually rediscovering the unfamiliar from the most common places. It’s different from going to places in the province or going out of the country to visit some foreign places which makes it easy for us to be in awe. But with urban travelling, you’ll get the kick of making exploration fun and really challenging and difficult. Because you really have to make an effort to search for the overlooked areas of that place and make it a different experience.
I always bring my camera and phone with me whenever I go out . Two of the most indispensable tools you’ll need when travelling – and of course your personal stuff such as toothbrush, toothpaste, facial wash and mouth wash. SWISH is one of the newest member of my urban trekking escapades – and believe me, it came in handy a lot of times. You can’t brush your teeth all the time but you can always keep your breath feeling and smelling fresh as often as possible! :) I can never go wrong with SWISH!

I love to travel and explore the world. Planning is the essential part of the trip. I consider the small and big concepts of my plan. I search for new discoveries by searching through the net, reading blog reviews, asking some suggestions from friends and acquaintances. It really helps me to know more about the place. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself. When I travel, I love to eat variety of food flavor from different restos or food stalls. I also get the chance to meet amazing people and Swish always helps me in maintaining fresh and clean breath feeling. Aside from it, it gives me confidence. I have nothing to worry about. It’s always essential together with my toothbrush, toothpaste and soap. Swish Mouthwash is absolutely alcohol-free. This makes it fun and enjoyable to gargle without the painful burning sensation!

When you travel, how do you search for new discoveries?

Nowadays, Internet is the only source of information for me and also I read some blogs about that place and I ask some people if they know anything about that place.

    2. Show us how you immerse yourself in your travel destinations. Tell us how Swish was able to help you.
Swish is a mouthwash that will help your breath clean and fresh all day long and because your on a trip a little conversion on the people who lives in that area is always constant. Swish will make a confidence for you in able to talk to anyone whenever your on the road or in Tagaytay :) And I do believe that Swish is proven effective.

I love visiting markets, especially if it is the local market. It is for me, the soul of a city. The market reveals so much about the culture of a place. It is, after all, where the locals go to get their fresh produce and livestocks. Baguio is no exception and it is actually one of the highlights whenever I find myself there. A trip to Baguio will never be complete without a trip to the market. Located high up in the mountains of the province of Benguet and due to the cold weather, fruits and vegetables grow beautifully and abundantly in this “City of Pines”. The province provides the entire Luzon majority of its vegetables, so they don’t get any fresher in this city. You’ll find stalls upon stalls of various types of produce obviously from fresh fruits and vegetables to organic red mountain rice to coffee. Also ranking high on my list (more than the veggies actually) is the delectable Baguio longganisa (Filipino style sausages). They are just the yummiest and I always go for the Baguio special garlic flavor, the one they serve at the Baguio Country Club. I had one great and most important meal of the day, and it just made my day! No wonder I feel so jovial today.
I have one important reminder, do not forget to brush your teeth and gargle with Swish mouthwash afterwards because the garlic-y smell really stays in your mouth. But don’t let this idea worry you so much. Swish will do the trick! ;-)

Of course after eating a bunch of that garlic-y taste.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 8th year anniversary in Singapore last March 2011. When it comes to traveling, my boyfriend leaves all the details to me since I’m very organized & usually 6 mos. prior to our departure date, I always make an Excel file to compile all the things needed for traveling. My bestfriend in compiling all these much-needed information is the internet. I check our best options for accommodation by sending emails to them & inquiring about the room amenities. I also surf for the recommended things to do, places to visit & foods to try in that certain place we’re going to, so that we can avail of their popular attractions & cuisine. One of the main attractions that we went to was Universal Studios Singapore. I decided to buy the tickets online to avoid the hassle of getting in line just to purchase the said tickets. I also have a habit of checking the weather in that location to make sure that we’ll be appropriately dressed for the climate. Last but not the least, I always make a checklist of all the things that we need to bring & of course, having a ready-to-use mouthwash in my bag like Swish always comes in handy. Being out for the entire day everyday since we’re visiting the local places & trying different kinds of local food, makes it essential for us to bring a mouthwash. Especially since Im always traveling with my boyfriend, it’s important to have that fresh breath always, coz you’ll never know when you’re gonna be kissed.. =)

When you travel, how do you search for new discoveries?

I’ve always loved to travel but most of the time does not have the means to do so. If ever I had given the opportunity, I have only one thing in mind: ACT AS A LOCAL. By this I mean not doing what the tourists usually do but doing what the locals are doing in order to fully enjoy the experience.

My family and I went to HK recently. Yes we went to the famous tourist spots but we ate to places where locals (not tourists) go, because we believe that the locals go where the good food is. The same idea goes for shopping. There is really a need to talk with the locals especially when you get lost (yes, I got lost) and when asking for directions. Swish was a very helpful tool for me because I feel confident in talking to these locals though they can’t understand me fully. Plus points for hooking up with HK guys :)

  15. When i travel around the i search for something real important and remarkable. Like why this folks called this silicon valley? Is this cemetery really sacred? Why do soccer and tkd is their national sport? The danger of f1, drifting and nascar speed why i still love to participate or watch even its too expensive. Now i understand passion and differences of like. This food taste good, yummy, sour, sweat and salty. This people and women are fine, pretty, charismatic, idealistic, business minded, cute or whatever then i realize the difference. Swish isa cool creation that makes my taste neutral. I mean all day confidence freshness protection. As i encounter this different folks around the globe in my daily life, making cool conversation making life, hi and hello so how are you doing?

Whenever I travel, I discover through observing the culture, tasting the local food and talking and asking the people about their life and their experience. I also love to visit the beautiful places in the area regardless if its a tourist spot or not. I always loose myself over the natural beauty of nature and I also love to appreciate the art in museums and the structures too. In viewing there works, I get to learn their historical background as well. When I get back from a travel, I apply my new knowledge to the new me.

    2. Swish was able to help me by making me feel cool and refresh everywhere I go. I can keep my breath fresh and clean even though I’m on an all day adventure. It’s less the hassle and super effective. I also love the fact that it doesn’t have alcohol. With swish, I can easily converse with the people in the place with confidence. I get to know more about them and that makes me grow as a person too.

Travelling is my favorite “me-time”, it’s my time to unwind, free myself from stress at work and discover new things.. With the help of the technology, I usually search the tourist spots on the destinations I want to go to . However, nothing beats the first hand info that you will get from the “locals” by personally asking them. You will discover more and learn more about their culture, their lifestyle, the food they love and the great places where you can go that may not even be on your itinerary..Fun part of it, you will get to learn few useful sentences from their language/dialect. Definitely, having a fresh breath is a must, having bad breath might drive the people you talk to away that’s why Swish has always been a part of my travel kit. Even after eating binagoongan, with just a gargle I can have a close chat with the “locals” and the other tourists, with confidence.

These days travelling to Ilocos had been a regular event for husband and me. And if you mind to ask the reason why, my in-laws are old enough to visit Manila and we are more willing to do the trips. Normally, we squeeze those visits on holidays so we have plenty of time to spend with the oldies and yet find occasion to go far and discover the countryside.

During those visits, we have been to most of the scenic and historical places of Ilocos, so, every time we go back my objective is to list a new-found place to uncover. Mister Google had been a very good trip advisor as he never fails to give me information about the places nearby my husband’s hometown. Mister Google would lead me to travel blogs like Byahilo (of course!) and to more travel journals that endow with customary of locals, native delicacy, activities to try out, scenic landscape and pasalubong (which I cannot miss :) )

Allow me to share how we explore the town of Luna during the summer month. Since it was an interior town of La Union, getting there wasn’t easy especially that we do not have any visitor’s guide on hand. The only way is to ask over the locals for directions and landmarks and the pro of knowing the regions dialect always works for us, so, getting baffled is no way. Few turns and more highways lead us to this historic town which is becoming a by-word of catholic devotees. We mostly learned from the natives about the Our Lady of Namacpacan and the seven miracles attributed to the beautiful image. And similarly from local visitors, we came to know the tall story about the water station located at the rear corner of the church which is said to be miraculous.

Discovering one more historical site at this quaint township is a wind-fall. In fact I’ve seen photos of the ruins before the trip however because of age; I grow to easily forget sometimes :) . We almost let passed of the chance, whew! I had been labeling it as the “watchtower ruins” only to find out that the place is called “Baluarte” to locals. Aside from the splitting tower, the coastal Barangay is abound with pebbles, which have found market not only in the country but also abroad.

Okay, leaving the town of Luna get into missing the local bibingka. :D

We’ve been road-tripper ever since, whichever way -be it by private vehicle or by means of public transport. And long travels at times make me sleep for hours. Swish Mouthwash had been a travel companion, it surely does gives me fresh breathe on the go.

Do I need to say more? Yes, I was surprised with my actions when I did not shy away to ask La Union’s surfing champions for a photo op. I suppose that’s how Swish elevates the confidence level to the maximum! :D

    1. I ask the locals and read everything I could get my hands on, literally and figuratively, about travel. Noting them down in one consolidated file is the key not to forget them =)

    2. Just hold your breath and take the plunge. Of course, making sure (sorry OC here) you don’t have bad breath in the morning is always the first step. So people don’t stay away from you. Di ba? Just like Swish, taking that first and extra step will leave you awake and alive for the next experience. You’ll have a reason to wake up every morning, ready for the adventure that you yourself created and which lights you up.

    3. Done.
