Zubuchon for Lunch
Posted by on November 4, 2011
A few weeks back I was in Cebu City to experience the Thai Food Fest of Radisson Blu Cebu. But before I flew out of Cebu I was treated by the Radisson Blu staff at Zubuchon for lunch.
I have heard about Zubuchon before but has never tried it. During our lunch we had an order of Zubuchon lechon, grilled squid stuffed with lechon sisig, for drinks I had santol juice.
Who would have thought that santol can be made into a refreshing drink?! The juice is good, really perfect if its very cold.
The lechon tastes very different from the typical Cebu Lechon. The meat is packed with all the flavors of herbs and spices. It’s is not very salty. International TV celebrity Anthony Bourdain even declared Zubuchon as the “Best Pig Ever”.
The pork skin is very crispy and the meat, tender. The lechon served to us is freshly coooked so you can still smell the scent of lemongrass and olive oil. The owners claim that they do not use MSG or vetsin and the pork are organically bred.
As a finale for our very heavy lunch, we ordered biko. I gues it is the best biko I have tasted ever! The sticky rice is slowly cooked with muscovado sugar, unlike the typical biko that is cooked with regular brown sugar. It’s heavenly! Their biko is a must-try!

wow! im surprised to know that Zubuchon has its own restaurant now… Last year we had to go a stall in a mall just to pickup and sample their Zubuchon..
I love their Iba (kamias) Shake. Namit pares sa Zubuchon meal.
Puntahan natin ‘to sa December ha!
I discovered Zubuchon din through “No Reservations” / Anthony Bourdain. Super love the taste of the lechon! Zubuchon is owned by MarketMan himself of MarketManila.com
They have recently opened another branch in Escario St. just across our office. Me and my team mates would never miss pigging out every payday for their lechon. Their serving is full of meat and yes, it’s delicious. They are a lot better than CnT but more affordable the Alejo’s. But for me the best tasting lechon in Cebu is in Carcar which is 40km south of Cebu City. Since I’m always situated in the city, I’ll go for Zubuchon.
yup, crispy ang skin sa zubuchon.
