Panaad sa Negros 2012

Preparations are now in full swing as Negros Occidental will once again hold the annual Panaad sa Negros 2012, the province’s biggest tourism spectacle.
This year, the Panaad sa Negros will be held on April 9-15. It’s a long weekend. Araw ng Kagitingan.
Every year, the towns and cities in Negros Occidental would gather in Panaad Park to promote the various products and tourist destinations.
Panaad is a Hiligaynon term meaning, a vow or promise. It is every Negrenses panaad to give thanks to the Divine Providence for the bountiful harvest, thus the Panaad sa Negros festival was born.
There are different activities and events lined up during the week long festivities, among them are the trade fair where one can sample the best delicacies of each town and city, there are also singing and dancing competition. During the Opening Day, the Festival of Festivals is held where the champion group from each and every festival in Negros competes to be the best Festival of the province. Another highlight of the festival is the beauty pageant where beauty queens representing the towns and cities would vie for the title “Lin-ay sang Negros” or roughly translated to as the Lady of Negros.
