Strawberry Farm La Trinidad Benguet

When in Baguio, one of the activities that you should not miss is strawberry picking at the vast strawberry farm in La Trinidad Benguet. The province is an ideal place to plant strawberry shrubs because of its high altitude. Benguet enjoys a cool climate whole year round.
It is said that the months of February and March are the peak season for strawberries. And picking them yourself at the farm is one of the best ways to enjoy your Vacation in Baguio!
A few weeks ago, we were in Baguio upon the invitation of Eurotel Hotel to experience the Summer Capital of the Philippines. And one of the places we got to visit is the strawberry farm in La Trinidad Benguet.
We arrived in La Trinidad at around 2PM. It was a Sunday, so it was not a surprise when there was a deluge of tourists that time.
One can actually buy fresh vegetables and strawberries at the strawberry farm at very cheap price. But for the ultimate experience, one can get his or her hands dirty by harvesting fresh strawberries. The price per kilo is a little bit higher though, but the experience of getting it yourself is priceless.
Aside from fresh strawberries, there are also some vendors selling freshly picked blueberries as well as Sagada Oranges. The vendor said the oranges are seedless. I wonder if its sweet, haven’t tried though.
One of the popular products coming from this region, (that i never ever buy as pasalubong!) is broom, or known in Filipino as walis tambo. The walis tambo in Baguio is so popular that all of the walis tambo in the Philippines have Baguio City as its label. When we were in La Trinidad recently. I was pleasantly surprised that these brooms got an upgrade. The new brooms are now dyed in varied colors. But of course, it comes with a price. The colored brooms are a bit expensive compared to the natural-colored brooms.
A few years back, one of the craze in Baguio and La Trinidad is the strawberry flavored taho. Taho is a Filipino drink made of warm soya mixed with some sweeteners and tapioca balls or sago. The newest craze in La Trinidad when we got there is Strawberry flavored ice cream. I don’t care if its friggin’ cold. I just want to try the locally made ice cream with bits of strawberries! And its so yummy! You could actually savor the sweet flavor of the fruit. and I love the texture! I was able to finish 2 cones of ice cream that time!
Aside from fresh fruits, vegetables, and ice cream, pasalubong items are also sold here. and guess what, some stores even accept credit cards! Key chains, brooms, table runners, strawberry jam, jellies, ube jam, lengua de gato, shawl, scarf, Tshirt, bonnets are just among the popular items on sale. Make sure to haggle with the vendors to get the best bargain deals.
It is possible to go to The strawberry farm via public transport. there are public utility jeepneys that ply the Baguio-La Trinidad route. If I am not mistaken there terminal is just near the burnham Park.
