Sampaguita Festival 2012 in San Pedro Laguna

I was in San Pedro Laguna yesterday to witness the Sampaguita Festival 2012. I only heard of this festival last year when Don and Fitz covered the event. I didn’t know that it was scheduled yesterday until I got a text message from Don.
Sampaguita is a type of jasmine known for its sweet smell. It is also the national flower of the Philippines.
So off we went to San Pedro Laguna. It was my first time so I don’t have much expectations.
At around 2PM the parade started with several floats that looked like roosters. February 21 is also the feast day of St. Peter, the patron saint of San Pedro.
Drum and bugle corps from different schools also joined the parade. After them, the dancers followed the parade. The parade ends at the old municipal hall where the dancers performed their routine.
The heat was just so unbearable so Don Fitz and I decided to not just shoot the performances.
The Sampaguita Festival is held every year in San Pedro Laguna during its town fiesta to help revive the blooming sampaguita industry. It is very interesting to note that San Pedro Laguna is known as one of the largest producers of Sampaguita.
Sampaguita is a type of jasmine known for its sweet scent. It is normally harvested and made into leis and garlands. Most of the time these are sold in churches.

bitter naman ako,kahapon pala yan.
isang tambling lang ako sa San Pedro eh, pede ko nga lakarin eh. argh! hangganda pala! 
masyado kasing naluto…. hahhaaha halata masyado ehh.. sna hindi nila pinahalata.. or else they musn’t have to say that its a contest.. magaling yung number 2 ehh .. number 2 dapat ang nag-champion.. tapos 3rd pa sila .. its obviously unfair..
.. maraming nakapanood .. and im one of them .. tama si smile .. they should not have considered it a contest if wala naman talagang pinagtatalunan .. it’s such a scream para sa mga judges .. nakakahiya yung ginawa nila .. #2 : show them na kayo ang magagaling .. next time wag kayong papayag na ganun ang angyayari .. mahirap na .. matatabunan kayo .. hindi makikita ang galing nyo .. do a petition .. petition will do .. LUTO talaga .. un lang masasabi ko !!
nakakahiya talaga yung ginawa ng mga judges yup tma ka smile and also cutesome they should not call this as contest you know masyado kasi ito na LUTO nakakahiya yung ginawa nila sa contest #2 dapat may nagreklamo man lang fight lang contestant #2 kasama nyu kami ^_^ suportado kayu naming manila folkdance association
