Save the Date! This summer, Metro Manila will once again sizzle as Manila Broadcasting company (MBC) holds the 11th edition of the Aliwan Fiesta.
Dubbed as the Festival of Champions, Aliwan Fiesta 2013 promises to gather the best street dancers, craftsmen, musicians, and the prettiest lads from the four corners of the Philippines in a three-day cultural extravaganza. Most of the performers will be staying at the nearby Manila hotels.
Every year, four Major Activities are lined up for the aliwan Fiesta these are the PasaKalye, the Inter School Dance Competition; Reyna ng Aliwan, the Beauty Pageant for Festival Queens; Float Competition, and the Streetdancing competition.
Every Year, Various Festival coming from Luzon Visayas and Mindanao converge in Metro Manila for an afternoon of streetdancing competition. The Best of the Best Philippine Festival goes home with 1 Million Peso Prize money.
the winner of the Float Competition on the other hand, goes home with Half a Million Pesos Prize Money.
Last year, Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo claimed their Third Straight Championship trophy courtesy of Tribu Pan-ay. Coming in at Second Place was the Buyogan festival of Abuyog Leyte. Buyogan Festival was also the Aliwan Fiesta 2009 Champion.
To give you an idea of how things ended up last year, here’s the list of Aliwan Fiesta 2012 Winners:

- Mamang-os at Kambingan Festival of Tuy, Batangas representing the Ala-eh Festival of Batangas
- Kalivungan Festival of Alamada, North Cotabato
- Zamboanga Hermosa Festival of Zamboanga City
- Pandang Gitab Festival of Oriental Mindoro
- Salakayan Festival of Miag-ao iloilo representing the Kasadyahan Festival of Iloilo
This year’s festivities are slated April 11-13, 2013. the schedule are as follows:
APRIL 5-7 Photo Exhibit at SM Southmall
APRIL 8 – Book Launch (venue TBA)
APRIL 11-13 Shopper’s Bazaar Sotto Street, CCP Complex
APRIL 11 Reyna ng Aliwan Festival Costume Competition, 6PM CCP Front Lawn
APRIL 12 Reyna ng Aliwan Pageant 7PM Aliw Theater Outdoor Stage
APRIL 13 Grand Parade and Streetdance Showdown 3PM From Quirino Grandstand to Aliw Outdoor Stage via Roxas boulevard
APRIL 13 Awardig Ceremonies 9:30PM aliw Outdoor Stage
This year the Street Dancing Competition and Float Parade will commence at 3PM from Quirino Grandstand. The parade will then traverse along Roxas Boulevard and wind up toward Aliw Theater, CCP Complex.
There will be two designated judging areas where spectators can fully appreciate the contingents’ performances. first will be at the Quirino Grandstand, and finally at the Aliw Theater.
The announcement of winners will also be held at the Aliw Theater after the performances.
