When I planned my Bicol trip, I made sure to save the best for last. Early morning on the last day of my Bicolandia trip, I travelled to the town of Daraga in Albay, Philippines to see the best possible view of Bicolandia’s most famous landmark: the Mayon Volcano.
The church was built in 1773 by the Franciscan missionaries after the original church was buried Cagsawa after a massive volcanic eruption. This Baroque architectural masterpiece features religious carvings in its facade.
Wakeboarding, as definined in wikipedia, as a surface water sport which involves riding the wake of a speed boat on a single board. It was developed from a combination of water skiing, snow boarding and surfing techniques. Some people believe that wakeboarding is a copy of skurfing but actually they have different characteristics.
Our Lady of Peñafrancia is the Patroness of the entire Bicol Region. And because of the growing number of devotees, the people built a new church dedicated to the Lady. Later on the church was elevated by the Vatican to the status of Minor Basilica (Basilica Minore). One of the features of the Basilica is a dome shaped multi-purpose hall located in front of the chuch. Another noteworthy feature of the church is its stained glass done in vibrant colors.
